Privacy Policy
We built Spekie with a privacy-first mindset. We collect only what we need to deliver the service, we never sell your data, and your audio recordings are automatically deleted within 24 hours of analysis.
1. Who We Are
Spekie ("we", "our", or "us") is a mobile application that helps users improve their communication and public speaking skills through AI-powered feedback. Our contact email is hello@spekie.app.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Email address and password when you create an account.
- Audio recordings: Voice recordings you make during practice sessions and baseline assessments.
2.2 Information Generated by the App
- Transcripts: Text transcriptions of your audio recordings, generated by OpenAI Whisper.
- Feedback and scores: AI-generated coaching feedback and performance scores across five skill categories (Clarity, Structure, Fluency, Confidence, Expression).
- Session history: Records of your practice sessions including date, category focus, and scores.
- Streak data: Your daily practice streak count and last session date.
2.3 Automatically Collected Information
- Device information: iOS version, device type (for crash reporting and compatibility).
- Usage data: Session completion events and subscription status (anonymized, for product improvement).
- Crash reports: Error logs via Sentry (no personally identifiable information included).
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To transcribe and analyze your speech recordings and generate personalized coaching feedback.
- To display your progress, scores, and session history within the app.
- To track your daily practice streak.
- To process payments and manage your subscription via RevenueCat.
- To detect and fix bugs and crashes in the app.
- To communicate with you about your account (transactional emails only).
4. Audio Data & Retention
Your audio recordings are stored in Supabase Storage for as long as your session history exists. They are accessible to you for playback within the app. Audio recordings, transcripts, and feedback are all deleted when you delete your account or submit a deletion request to us.
5. Third-Party Services
To deliver Spekie, we work with the following third-party service providers. Each has its own privacy policy and data handling practices.
5.1 Supabase
We use Supabase for database storage, user authentication, and temporary audio file storage. Your data is processed on Supabase's servers. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
5.2 OpenAI
Your audio recordings are sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription, and your transcripts are sent to OpenAI's GPT API for analysis. OpenAI processes this data to provide the service. We do not send any personally identifiable information (name, email) to OpenAI — only audio/text content. See OpenAI Privacy Policy.
5.3 RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect device identifiers and purchase history. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
5.4 Sentry
We use Sentry for crash reporting and error monitoring. Crash reports include technical information about your device and the app state at the time of an error, but do not include your audio recordings, transcripts, or email address. See Sentry Privacy Policy.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption).
- User passwords are hashed by Supabase Auth — we never store plaintext passwords.
- API keys (OpenAI, etc.) are stored as server-side secrets and never exposed to the client app.
- Session tokens expire after 1 week.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to protecting your data using industry-standard practices.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request corrections to inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data. Upon request, we will delete your account, audio recordings, transcripts, scores, and session history.
- Portability: Request an export of your session history and scores in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to certain uses of your data where we rely on legitimate interest as the legal basis.

8. Children's Privacy
Spekie is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
9. International Data Transfers
Spekie is operated from Turkey. Your data may be processed and stored on servers located in the United States and other countries where our third-party providers operate. By using the app, you consent to this transfer. We ensure our providers maintain appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of Spekie after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
